Bid race begins for the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park
Bidding for the London Legacy Development Corporation will soon start for the proposed cultural and education district development at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.
The project will be broken up into five design and build contracts covering a new V&A for east London, a 600-seat theatre for Sadler’s Wells and London College of Fashion complex at the Stratford Waterfront site, and a new campus for University College London on another.
Construction costs on the Waterfront site are estimated at £850m alone. The UCL plans to spend £1.25bn on its East campus and refurbishing parts of its central London Bloomsbury campus.
Under present plans, building work will begin in 2018 on both the UCL East and Stratford Waterfront sites. The current plans anticipate the buildings to open in 2020/21.
