Small Business Saturday 2015 has been announced
Last year Small Business Saturday attracted over 16 million people in the UK, with customers supporting their local independent retailers in a movement to help promote high street businesses.
This year we can expect much more engagement between small business leaders. The education business partnership Inspire is hosting a variety of nationwide workshops. Inspire hope to involve small businesses in discussions and Q&A sessions which will be broadcasted live on their YouTube channel.
Once again the event is being sponsored by American Express. The banking giants launched Small Business Saturday in the United States in 2010 and are the event is now growing from strength to strength. In 2012 an estimated $5.5b was spent at small businesses on the day in the US.
‘‘Last year, small business owners, local authorities, a wide range of other organisations and members of the public really embraced Small Business Saturday. It succeeded because people recognised the importance of having a vibrant and successful small business sector.’’
‘‘We are tremendously excited about this year’s event, and we expect tens of thousands of FSB members across the UK to take part again on 5 December 2015,’’ said Michelle Ovens, national campaign director.
